Who I am....
I’m Dr Colette Kirk, a Lead Specialist Dietitian, Clinical Academic and PhD-qualified researcher specialising in gut health and clinical nutrition.
I work across both the NHS and private practice, supporting people with ongoing digestive symptoms, fatigue and complex gastrointestinal conditions.
My clinical and research work
In my NHS role, I work with patients living with some of the most complex gastrointestinal conditions, including intestinal failure and long-term nutrition support.
Alongside this, my research focuses on quality of life, fatigue, physical function and nutritional health in people with chronic gut conditions.
Many of the people I work with continue to experience significant fatigue, digestive symptoms and reduced day-to-day function, even when medical treatment is considered clinically stable.
My approach
My approach looks beyond symptoms alone.
I consider how factors such as:
-
gut function
-
nutrition
-
fatigue and energy
-
physical function
-
lifestyle and daily routines
can all interact to influence how someone feels day to day.
Because improving health isn’t just about reducing symptoms - it’s about improving quality of life, confidence and daily function.
